Member Spotlight

FMCA members Bill and Raymonda Dane

Bill and Raymonda Dane
Full-timers from Springfield, Ore.

FMCA membership number:  F218850 (joined FMCA in 1997)

FMCA chapter memberships:  Elk International

Our current motorhome:  a 1999 Country Coach Allure

Other motorhomes we have owned:
1968 Dodge, 1978 Eldorado Class C, 1995 Roadtrek 190 Versitle, 1997 National RV Sea Breeze

We decided to buy a motorhome because:
It was convenient for traveling with a family.

Our careers/occupations:
I was a businessman, and Raymonda was a kindergarten teacher.

Family:
We have four children and seven grandchildren.

The best thing about motorhoming is:
The freedom and independence it provides

Favorite motorhoming destinations:
The beach, the forests, the rolling hills, the desert — do you get the picture? We love full-timing and always have an interesting destination "just around the bend."

One of our fondest motorhoming memory:
Traveling with our two grandchildren for six weeks from California to North Carolina, Florida and points in between.

The best thing about our motorhome is:
Our Country Coach Allure is great for full-timing. It has a well-built chassis and plenty of carrying capacity. We like it so much that it's hard to pick out just one thing.

The best additions we've made to our motorhome:
Adding solar panels and golf cart batteries

Something about motorhoming that we know now but didn’t know when we started is:
About boondocking

Our favorite thing(s) about FMCA is:
The international conventions, especially in the summer when our grandchildren can go with us! We meet very nice people via FMCA.

A motorhoming tip we’d like to share with other motorhomers is:
Fold your dirty clothes before putting them in the hamper or basket. They take up less room.

Our hobbies:  Raymonda: Quilting, sewing, reading

Favorite movie:  Maverick

Favorite song:  "On the Road Again"

Favorite restaurant fare:  Mexican food

Favorite store:  Wal-Mart

When motorhomers visit our state or hometown, they should be sure to see:
The Oregon coast. It's beautiful.

Items that are always in our motorhome refrigerator while traveling:
Dr. Pepper soft drinks

Our advice to new motorhomers is:
Research before buying

Behind our motorhome, we tow:
A 2001 Honda CR-V four wheels down using a tow bar

Our favorite activity to do inside the motorhome is:
Computer work

Other comments:
This was a difficult questionnaire because we are so pleased with our full-timing lifestyle and it is a very broad and complex subject.
